Three ways Headwind MDM returns its cost

In most business scenarios, an MDM investment pays for itself within the first few months — even after accounting for the indirect costs of deployment friction — and keeps returning value every month, every year, thereafter.

Common questions before you buy

Everything the ops and IT leads usually ask us at this point.

How much does the license actually cost?
Cloud is $19 per device per year. Premium is a one-time $2,990 payment for a perpetual license with 1 year of premium support included. Enterprise is quoted for your fleet. See the full breakdown on Pricing or ask us for a quote against your fleet size.
How is this different from the free community edition?
The community edition is open-source and self-hosted — great for small fleets and technical teams. Premium and Enterprise add business features (kiosk mode, remote control, plugins, group policies, priority support, free on-premises setup) and are the right choice when a device outage costs you real money.
Will it work with the Android devices I already have?
Yes for most cases. Headwind MDM supports standard Android 5.0+ phones and tablets, plus rugged devices, POS terminals, TV boxes, and custom OEM ROMs. Advanced features (kiosk lockdown, silent app install) work best when the agent is preinstalled or signed with platform keys — we help you get there. See Compatibility.
Can I run it fully on-premises, without any cloud?
Yes. Headwind MDM runs entirely on your own server — no cloud dependency, works in air-gapped and closed networks. Ideal for warehouses, factory floors, healthcare environments, and government deployments where data cannot leave the premises.
I already use another MDM. Is switching painful?
Usually no. Devices are re-enrolled via QR code or an install script — the same tools you would use for a fresh rollout. We help you plan the migration so you never lose visibility of your fleet during the switch.
Do I need a dedicated IT team to run this?
No. A single IT officer typically manages hundreds of devices without extra headcount. The web console is designed for day-to-day operations, not just admins — group policies mean one change hits the whole fleet.
Where does the device data live and how is it secured?
On your server, under your control. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest, sign the mobile agent with real certificates, and run regular security audits. Nothing about your fleet leaves your infrastructure unless you set up an integration that pushes it out.
What does support look like once we are a paying customer?
Premium and Enterprise include priority support in English, plus free on-premises setup on Enterprise. There is also a public Q&A knowledge base with answers to most common issues. If you are evaluating, talk to an expert — we set up a trial environment tailored to your device mix.
